Urban Outsiders by Bas Kosters Studio
The changing relationship of mankind towards city and nature
This autumn Frankendael Foundation presents the exhibition Urban Outsiders in collaboration with curators Roos Burger and Yvonne Yzermans:
Since most of the world's population lives in cities, the place that nature holds in our environment is constantly evolving. Expanding cities occupy nature, but in turn nature finds her way into the urban structure. Urban Outsiders examines the changing relationship of mankind towards urbanization, the ‘wild’ and agriculture or green.
Bas Kosters uses his own perspective to react on and search for new relations in general. With his creations from his collection 12Tree (2012), he reacts directly on the increasing tension fields between the nature and city experience. In collaboration with photographer Marc Deurloo and video editor Alex Caseta these tensions are sought, brought together and illustrated.
