Bas Kosters shows how chintz inspired him and led him to new interpretations of craft. Through a cross-cultural exchange of knowledge, the Textiel Factorij brought together Dutch artists and designers with Indian craftsmen. A number of these artists and designers, including Bas Kosters, present the result of this collaboration in this exhibition about craft and costume.

Wow, great news, we have a new location in the heart of Amsterdam. In Amsterdam Central station to be exact. A little dream has come true. Bas is an indisputable and indelible part of Amsterdam’s culture, and therefore the wonderful world of the Bas Kosters Studio will now get a little sibling in the heart of Amsterdam. In Lil’ Amsterdam we will open the Lil’ Bas Kosters Studio. Showing everything that the Bas Kosters Studio holds, but on a more modest scale. The shop will serve as a gallery, workplace, mini museum, store and little event space in the coming months.

Three looks from my Permanent State of Confusion collection are part of the exhibition ‘The World is Your Dressing Up Box’.
Exploring costume design, fashion design, millinery, jewellery and shoes, the exhibition transformed the gallery into a space where extravagant opulence is celebrated. The exhibition provides an interplay between the pieces that one can only stand back and admire and the ones that you can try on.

My glitter clown costume from the collection Clowns Are People Too AW14 is part of the exhibition ‘REFLECTION by Jean-Paul Lespagnard’. At the Museum of Costume and lace you can discover the effects that contemporary art pieces, popular culture objects and stylists’ pieces from the museum’s collections had on the creator’s work. It’s a different look at fashion and its inspiration. Immerse yourself in the creative mind of Jean-Paul Lespagnard.

From now on, my new work of art 'De Kapitalist' is displayed in Museum Arnhem. Artistic transformation is important in many of my projects. As an artist, I always place myself in the middle of my work and art, as narrative object, as a carrier, as a starting point or end product.

On Sunday, April 30th at 3 P.M. my exhibition "Come along and dream with me" will open at the Sis Josip gallery in The Hague. The exhibition gives an intimate picture of my thoughts. Till June 18th, the cozy gallery on the Hoogstraat 9 will be filled with original Bas Kosters drawings, glass objects, small tapestries and paintings. The exhibition embodies the pleasure I have in creating, whether it's with textiles, glass or pen and paper. The title expresses the hope to keep on dreaming, even in these harsh times.

The Nationaal Glasmuseum invited Bas Kosters to be part of the exhibition 'Ispirazione'. They requested Bas to respond to the work of Sottsass. He was inspired by the humor, freedom and joy that the works of Sottsass embody.

Bas can appreciate the exuberance in the work of the Italian: "They say in fashion that you should limit yourself to one statement piece in an outfit. I advocate the opposite!"

With this retrospective, the museum displays a great selection of earlier works and fashions. In addition Bas also made new works for this exhibition, amongst which a new installation “Good people machine”.
On request of the museum, Erik Alkema created a video about this installation, his love for dolls, and the exhibition in general. The video is on display in the exhibition, and can be seen on Arttube.
